The Jubilee Party headquarters located along Thika Road in Nairobi has been put up for auction in what can be viewed as a massive blow to its members and its leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a notice published in the local dailies on Monday, August 29, Garam Investments Auctioneers announced that it was auctioning the seven-storey building located in the Pangani area.

The auction will take place on Sunday, September 11 at the firm's offices in Westlands, Nairobi.

Interested individuals are required to pay a deposit of Ksh5 million before placing their bids on acquiring the building.

"All that parcel of land known as LR no 209/1530 Emani Business Centre along Thika Road, Pangani area registered under Farmer Industry Limited, with a plinth area of 34,000 square feet.

"Bidders will be required to produce a bidding deposit of Ksh5 million by way of cash or bankers cheque before being allowed to bid," the notice read in part.

The building boasts two basement floors, a penthouse on the rooftop, a sentry house and a power house.

In its basement, it features parking bays, a water pump store, a concrete water tank, and a lift/staircase lobby. The ground floor level has an entrance lobby, main reception, lift staircase lobby as well as spaces for offices, cafeteria with kitchen and kitchenette.

The rest of the six floors feature office spaces as well as conference rooms.

The building was first acquired by President Uhuru and his deputy, William Ruto, on the road to eventually winning the 2013 general elections.

It has been used as the party's national tallying centre in the 2013 and 2017 general elections before a fallout emerged between the two leaders in 2018, following Uhuru's handshake with former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

The Jubilee party allegedly paid Ksh90 million in annual rent for its Pangani headquarters in 2018, according to Caleb Kositany, the party's vice secretary at the time.

Of late, it has been used for press conferences whereby the party's secretary-general, Jeremiah Kioni, cried foul over Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party sweeping apart the majority of its former strongholds in the Mt Kenya region.

He has on two occasions accused the party of rigging in the 2022 general elections in several constituencies in the region after UDA's onslaught saw many of its members decamp.
