Key Nairobi Expressway Toll Station To Be Closed Until January
The closure means that motorists will be diverted to Museum Hill Entrance B to access the Expressway.

The Nairobi Expressway has announced that a toll station at The Mall in Westlands will be closed from tomorrow, Wednesday, December 25.
In a notice, Moja Expressway Company, which is in charge of operations of the 27.1-kilometre elevated road, revealed that the temporary closure is part of maintenance works that will run from December 25 to January 2, 2025.
The closure means that motorists will be diverted to Museum Hill Entrance B to access the Expressway, a matter that will lead to longer travel times for motorists who usually access the road from Westlands.

"The Nairobi Expressway will be undergoing essential maintenance works at The Mall and Nairobi Westlands Toll Station from 25th December 2024 to 2 January 2025," the company announced in part.
"During this period, The Mall Entrance will be closed and motorists are advised to utilize Museum Hill Entrance B to access the Expressway."
The company however announced that Nairobi Westlands will be operational. "We urge motorists to slow down and drive with caution around the area of maintenance," the company appealed.
Other than longer travel times, the closure could result in slightly longer queues by motorists trying to access the Expressway from the alternative entrance.
The Ksh88 billion Expressway has 10 exits at Mlolongo, Standard Gauge Railway, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Eastern Bypass, Southern Bypass, Capital Centre, Haile Selassie Avenue, Museum Hill, and Westlands.
It is furnished with toll stations that provide for both Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) and Manual Toll Collection (MTC). Motorists have the option of using either.
The ETC Service provided by MOJA allows Toll Points to be electronically deducted through the pre-installed On-Board Unit (OBU) device offering a non-stop road service.
In a notice, the authority revealed that the closure is expected to commence on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8 pm and is expected to last until midnight on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Both carriageways shall be affected by the temporary closure.
Because of the closure, all traffic will be diverted through Mombasa Road (A8) Highway, Lang'ata Road and Ngong Road as an alternative route during this period.
On Saturday, December 21, KeNHA announced the temporary closure of a section of Kiambu Road for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Ruiru-Tatu City-Kiambu (B115) Road.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that Ruiru-Tatu City-Kiambu (B115) Road will be temporarily closed at a section between Kirigiti Roundabout to St.Peter and Paul Catholic Church,” part of the notice read.
