In a statement on his official X account on Saturday, March 22, INJECT Party leader Morara Kebaso criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what he described as 'tribal-driven politics.'

Referring to a video of Gachagua speaking in Machakos, Morara condemned his strong emphasis on Mt Kenya’s politics, arguing that such an approach fosters poor leadership and national disunity.

In the video shared by Morara, Gachagua asserted that Mt Kenya has the potential to remain in government for the next 100 years.

He further claimed that leaders from the region would also dominate in Nairobi County during the next general election.

Reacting to the video, Morara asked "Leaders of opposition should unite. I agree 100%. But what is the glue that will hold us together? Do we have shared values? Are we uniting to replace the problem with another problem?"

Tribalism has remained a persistent challenge for Gachagua, contributing to his removal from office in October last year. Morara argued that Kenya’s deep-rooted history of tribal-based politics has significantly fueled corruption and weakened accountability.

Despite recently being seen engaging with Gachagua and other opposition leaders, Morara suggested a potential rift, emphasizing that he would not allow the Gen Z movement’s mission to unite the country to be undermined by tribal politics.

"How do we give every Kenyan the confidence that we represent a bright future with a stable economy? How do I convince GenZs that this speech by a leader of such great influence is the change they were fighting for? I found it difficult to continue associating the GenZ movement with this," he added.

In October last year, Kebaso established the INJECT Party and confirmed that it will nominate candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 elections.

"INJECT Party of Kenya will sweep Parliament, Senate, and all elective seats like a flash flood. People of Kenya, you are welcome to your office in Kahawa Sukari, Kiu River Road, 6th South Avenue. Pamoja Tujenge Chama," he said.

Since last year, the self-proclaimed Gen Z leader has risen to prominence by publicly criticizing President William Ruto’s government and highlighting unfulfilled projects through social media videos.

Kebaso hopes to build on the momentum started by Gen Z across the country, with many believing that they could be the crucial factor in determining the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
