Members of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Naisula Lesuuda (Samburu West) and Peter Salasya (Mumias East) defied the odds to emerge among the best-performing young MPs in the country.

This is according to a research poll released on Sunday, November 5 by Infotrak which ranked Kenya's 50 best-performing members of Parliament.

Nyoro emerged at the top with an average score of 70%. Following him in second and third were Igembe South MP Paul Mwirigi at 66% alongside Christoper Wangaya (Khwisero), with Salasya coming in fourth with 64%.

Three MPs tied at 63% led by Lesuuda, followed by Francis Kuria (Molo) and Reuben Kiborek (Mogotio).

Ranking at the 8th position is Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia with 61%, Babu Owino (Embakasi East) came in 9th at 61% and Gideon Kipkoech (Keiyo South) tied the list at 59%.

Infotrak also ranked MP Nyoro as the top overall performing MP in Kenya followed by Kangema MP Peter Irungu.

John Mwrigi (Igembe South), Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central), Christopher Wangaya (Khwisero), Rober Mbui (Kathiani) and George Kaluma (Homa Bay) tied for the third position. The eighth position was also tied between Geoffrey Wandeto (Tetu) and James Githua (Kabete). 

Owino was ranked the best-performing MP in Nairobi at 60 per cent followed by Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi with a 58 per cent rating.

Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor (Jalang'o) languished in 10th alongside his Dagoretti North counterpart Beatrice Elachi.

Benjamin Gathiru, alias Mejjadonk, of Embakasi Central came third with 56 per cent, followed closely by Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, who scored 55 per cent.

Tom Kajwang' of Ruaraka and John 'KJ' Kiarie of Dagoretti South were jointly ranked fifth with 54 per cent, while Embakasi West's Samuel Mwenje and Ronald Karauri of Kasarani got 52 per cent and were jointly ranked as the seventh-best performers.
