Police: How Jimi Wanjigi Is Linked To Juja MP George Koimburi's Alleged Abduction
Inspector General Kanja stated that the investigation into the Ruiru Coffee Farm in Kiambu County, where the MP was allegedly dumped, has uncovered conflicting details. The farm is reportedly owned by Wanjigi.

A coffee farm owned by businessman and politician Jimi (Jimmy) Wanjigi is now the centre of events surrounding the dumping of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi, according to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.
Inspector General Kanja stated that the investigation into the Ruiru Coffee Farm in Kiambu County, where the MP was allegedly dumped, has uncovered conflicting details. The farm is reportedly owned by Wanjigi.
In a detailed statement released Tuesday, May 27, Kanja shared additional findings from the ongoing probe, just a day after a video showing a disoriented Koimburi lying on the ground went viral.
He confirmed that officers had visited the farm, which is believed to be the location shown in the circulating footage. However, the site inspection revealed major discrepancies.
After analysing the vegetation and road layout, authorities determined that the video was not recorded at Wanjigi’s farm as initially claimed, thus clearing the premises and the politician from the probe.

"Police officers from Juja swiftly responded, visiting the alleged scene and thoroughly documenting the area. Upon comparing the vegetation and road dimensions at the scene with those in the video, it was established that the two did not match.
"During questioning, Moses Kariuki, the caretaker of the coffee farm which is owned by one Jimmy Wanjigi, stated that he had not witnessed such an incident," the statement read in part.
Additionally, while early reports suggested Koimburi was found by a passerby, investigations revealed that a woman, believed to be the first to respond, used the MP’s vehicle to take him to a medical facility.
Authorities grew more suspicious when the hospital that initially received Koimburi failed to provide details about the first aid he received, casting doubt on whether he had been subjected to torture.
IG Kanja emphasised that the investigation was being carried out with utmost professionalism, assuring the public that all possible leads would be followed and forensic evidence thoroughly examined to uncover what led to Koimburi’s current condition.
As of Tuesday, May 27, the Juja MP was recovering at Karen Hospital. Meanwhile, opposition figures, including Rigathi Gachagua, alleged that he had been incapacitated by a chemical agent that left him unable to speak.
Though IG Kanja did not outright reject the claims of Koimburi’s abduction, he reinforced that the MP was fully aware he was being pursued by authorities in connection with a land dispute.
"It is important to note that Hon. George Koimburi has been under investigation for a land fraud case, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) had already issued consent for his prosecution," added the statement.
"On Friday, 23 May 2025, the MP, fully aware of the police's intention to arrest him, evaded arrest by escaping on a motorcycle with his private security and switching off his mobile phone. His car, occupied only by his driver, was intercepted, and the driver was arrested but later released after recording a statement. The MP only resurfaced yesterday, coinciding with the abduction claims."
