"The National Police Service Multi-Agency Team in Nairobi continues to make headways in addressing the emergence of predatory crimes especially "muggings" in Nairobi. Yesterday, officers on patrol arrested 6 suspected youths aged between 20-26 years.

"The 6, who were flushed from their hideout in Mathare Area 1 were found in possession of 4 knives, one stone and 8 rolls of bhang. The 6 have since been processed and will be arraigned in court," the statement read in part.

It is designed solely for military use and is intended for hand-to-hand or close combat fighting. One of its unique features is a serrated edge for cutting through belts and ropes, fabric and various other textured materials.

The arrest comes after the Inspector General, Mr Japhet Koome recently issued a stern warning to crime syndicates in Nairobi and across the country to either desist from crime or else face the full force of the law.

Despite President William Ruto deploying officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) and the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) to the city, numerous reports continue to surface of theft, some of which have seen the culprits take bolder tactics.

The Nation reported that four armed robbers on the evening of Monday, November 21, 2022, stole bread and Ksh21,000 at gunpoint in Kasarani. A Hyundai motor vehicle which was being driven by Nicholas Mutie, 38 and Mr Faruk Ongaki, 22 was stopped by the suspected robbers.

“It was established that the motor vehicle of registration number KBS 915D which was loaded with 281 crates of bread was accosted and robbed by four men who were armed,” a police report stated as quoted by the publication.

The armed robbers demanded that the two surrender their mobile phones which they did. They also dismantled a tracking gadget and siphoned all fuel and loaded the bread onto a waiting vehicle whose registration number was not captured.

Also in Kasarani, a 29-year-old man was arrested after being found in possession of 265 iPhones and 10 Android smartphones.
