President William Ruto on Thursday, September 21 sent his message of condolence to the family of music producer Byron Muhando Kivisi who passed on unexpectedly.

Kivisi, a multi-talented creative force behind some of Kenya's most prominent music hits, such as 'Sipangwingwi' and 'Usherati,' suffered a fatal arterial rupture on Monday morning, September 18.

"Deeply saddened by the death of music producer and artist Byron Muhando Kivisi. Byron was first introduced to me by music sensation Xray during a music recording session of the hit song Sipangwingwi at the Deputy President’s residence in Karen.

"I recall with fondness his calm and collected demeanour, but more importantly his immense talent that made him an acclaimed music producer. It is disheartening that we have lost Byron at a prime age. We are comforted by the fact that his works of art will live on," he stated on his social media handles.

Adding: “To the family, friends and his fans, accept our sincere condolences. Rest In Peace, Byron.”

Kivisi’s sudden passing sent shockwaves throughout the nation, leaving his family, the entire music industry, and fans in a state of profound grief.

This was given that he was renowned for his exceptional talent in producing chart-topping songs that became anthems in the Kenyan music landscape.

Through a statement released by his family, they expressed their deep sorrow and provided insight into the cause of his tragic death.

Some of Kivisi’s most notable contributions to the music industry dominated the music charts and found their way into the political sphere. “Sipangwingwi” for instance was used by President Ruto during his 2022 campaigns, highlighting the widespread appeal of his music, and so popular it was that he even tweaked it to the version of 'Hatupangwingwi'.

His family announced that the body of the only son of Evans Muhali was taken to Kenyatta University Morgue (KU morgue), and his final resting place will be in Maragoli Bugina village, Vihiga county, with the burial ceremony scheduled for October 7, 2023.

Kivisi’s legacy will endure through his unforgettable songs, which have become integral to Kenyan popular culture.

He collaborated with some of the most prominent rappers in the country, including Trio Mio, Mejja, X-Ray, and Ssaru.
