State House spokesperson, Hussein Mohamed, has denied reports of bad blood between President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during a press briefing at Harambee House, Nairobi on Sunday, May 19, Mohamed assured Kenyans that the two still kept their harmonious working relationship intact and redirected any burning questions on the same to the communications docket in the Office of the Deputy President.

A journalist had raised a query to the highest house in the land on the same amidst media reports claiming that the two top leaders in Kenya were not seeing each other eye to eye.

The scribe feared that the reported fallout would spark concerns regarding the country's leadership given that Gachagua would be the one left in charge of the entire country when President Ruto flies out to the United States (US) from Monday, May 20.

"Now that you asked about the President and the deputy president, to my knowledge, there is no issue. The Deputy President's Office is an office with all the capabilities and competencies," stated Mohamed.

"If you want to ask any question or find out anything about the Deputy President, they have all the capabilities and you can find out whatever information about the Deputy President that you need there."

Media reports over the weekend which were unverified independently by Viral Tea indicated that the fallout between the two leaders had forced the second-in-command to reduce the frequency of his public appearances in crucial events attended by President Ruto.

For instance, Gachagua was absent when the president led the members of his Cabinet in the nationwide tree-planting exercise on May 10.

Thereafter, he could not be spotted at State House for a State event during Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's State Visit to Kenya.

The reports further indicated that the DP had skipped a total of 11 state events without an explanation, with political factions concerned about his lack of social media presence given that he had, before today, not posted on his official social media handles since May 12.

The latest post today saw Gachagua on Pentecost Sunday join Christian Catholic Faithful for Holy Mass at Sacred Heart Endarasha Catholic Church in Kieni Constituency, Nyeri County.

"Joining us are several leaders who include Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Deputy Governor David Kinaniri, Nyeri County Senator Wahome Wamatinga, Woman Rep Rahab Mukami, Area Mp Njoroge Wainaina Chieni, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Buuri Mp Mugambi Rindikiri, Mbeere North Mp G.K. On Saturday, lawmakers allied to the ruling Kenya Kwanza had also denied the existence of a rift between the President and his deputy urging supporters to disregard the rumours.

National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro argued that "The Deputy President can also have some time to rest and relax. I hear he will be in Nyeri tomorrow so we can wait for him to speak for himself."
