"I am beyond humbled & honoured to be recognized by the European Parliament and representation of German state of Hesse and to have won the European International Women’s Leadership Award. A huge Congratulations to all the amazing women who won as well.

"Bit sad I couldn’t physically make it, This is big for me and this is not just my win, but this is for all the female leaders who have a positive influence and impact on today’s society," she stated in part.

The Gere hitmaker further praised all women, who not only inspire but also move with love, calmness, humility, self-awareness, respect, courage, class and integrity regardless of the challenges and hardships as well as the hate, trials and tests.

"We live to inspire. Divine Feminine Aura & like a flower, doesn’t look to compete with the flower next to it ~ it just blooms and attracts.

"To all the hard and smart working women, to all the mothers, daughters, sisters & nurturers, who have or have had a positive influence in today’s world. This is for us. Happy International Women’s Day!" she added, further sending her gratitude to her long-time friend for accepting the award in her absence.

The award ceremony was held by the Brussels EU Representation of the German State of Hesse, and the other awardees were Nadia Atia (Morocco), Bounthone Chanthalavong-Wiese (Laos, Germany), Nuray Erden (Turkey), Runa Khan (Bangladesh), Martine Moïse (Haiti), Marie-Consolée Mukangendo (Rwanda, Spain), and Inna Pletukhina (Russia, USA).

The team behind the award selected Tanasha for her fluency in five languages and her work as a model, businesswoman, and artist. She has nurtured her creative skills through her African roots and is interested in motivating, touching, and inspiring others in a positive way through her music, which is grounded in afro-soul, afro-fusion, and Amapiano.

The European Women’s International Leadership Award was started four years ago with the aim of celebrating extraordinary women. It is awarded to women who, at a certain moment of their life, decided to follow their dream, to break with traditional obligations around them, to challenge male-dominated areas, to act respectfully to give an example to all those women who do not (yet) dare to raise their voice and to develop their potential.

Tanasha, a Nairobi-based artist, was born in England, grew up in Kenya, and spent half of her life in Belgium; This life allowed her to communicate fluently in five languages.

With 3.9 million followers, she is the most popular Kenyan musician on Instagram and has been streamed more than 65 million times across all platforms.
