Lawyer Miguna Miguna's first TV interview since returning from exile in Canada with NTV editorial director, Joe Ageyo turned frosty after he accused the journalist of numerously cutting him short while explaining his points.

The interview on Friday, October 21 turned into a back-and-forth as he gave an example of a person seeking the services of a doctor over an illness, to which the medical officer moves in to examine him.

However, Ageyo interjected him on several occasions, to which the firebrand lawyer responded by accusing him of rushing things.

Watch the video:

"Just wait. You are in a hurry and that's the problem of the Kenyan media. So let me say this. Listen Joe Ageyo you are trying to disrupt me from what am saying. No, it's not.

"I'm going to make it as robust as it should be. Let me make it robust. I'm not finished Joe, please. This is the only point I was going to make during this interview," he interjected.

The other episode of the two personalities clashing stemmed after Miguna opened up on his opposition to former President Uhuru Kenyatta to which he resorted to working with former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader claimed that Raila betrayed him in 2017 without his knowledge, and he would only learn about it after he was forced into exile.

This however rattled Ageyo, who despite reprimanding him for making bold claims in the interview, he was challenged by Miguna to seek clarity on his claims with Raila.

"You can go and ask Raila that, you have never asked Raila that question...I have written a book where I have given data, records and facts.

"When you ask a question, you can't dictate how I'm going to answer it because I did not construct the question. I'm going to answer your question, you asked me the question, why did I oppose Raila Odinga...why do I say that Raila Odinga collaborated with Uhuru Kenyatta in order to have my rights violated and for them to forcefully remove me from the country?" he posed.

Miguna's Conditions on Accepting Ruto's Job Offer

Miguna then stated that he was open to taking up a role in President William Ruto's government if offered to him.

However, he asserted that the job offer must be legally bound by the Constitution, thus for him, the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) was out of consideration because of the legal implications and court cases which are currently challenging its legality.

"It depends on which government appointment. For example, there are things I would not take. I don't appoint myself. The appointment would have to be proposed then I say why I take it or not.

"There are so many things I would not take. I won't take the illegal CAS position," Miguna stated during the interview.

Miguna on Ruto Disbanding SSU Unit

In a change of tune, Miguna praised Ruto for disbanding the Special Service Unit (SSU) attached to the office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), believing that it was key in addressing the cases of forced disappearances and extra-judicial killings.

"He has dismantled the DCI assassination squad, which is very fundamental. When you see a president do that, it is commendable," Miguna noted.

He further congratulated Ruto for initiating a series of transformations in the political sphere to put the country on an economic recovery path.

"Ruto galvanized the simple citizens of this country on a program of transformation when that was not his agenda throughout his political life. This was fresh. You could only oppose it if you're dishonest

"Look at his thirty years of being in power, he has honoured my rights, and he did not betray me (while referring to the lifting of the red alert)," Miguna explained, alluding to Ruto’s efforts in ensuring that he returns into the country.

Miguna further added that he was determined on taking over from Raila as the Luo kingpin, adding boldly that he aspires to dethrone Raila and liberate the Nyanza region from the dominance of the Odinga family.
