Veteran radio presenter, Alex Mwakideu will join Radio 47 under Cape Media Limited from next week.

"Your Mondays will never be the same again! Tune in to #MwashumbeNaMwakideu on Breakfast47 every weekday from 6 am til 10 am on #Radio47 #HapaNdipo," read the announcement.

"Radio presenter Alex Mwakideu is set to join Cape Media-owned Swahili radio station Radio47 this coming Monday, August 28," Cape Media weighed in.

Mwakideu will be joining former Citizen TV journalist Willis Raburu, whose tenure at TV47 begins tonight.

The latest acquisition has been part of Cape Media's strategy to bring on board the best of the best in the media business, something which caught the eye of Kenyans attributing it to a football team signing several star players from the world's biggest clubs.

The announcement came after Mwakideu defaulted on his announcement on social media that he was leaving Milele FM after five years.

"Yooh, I'm still at Milele FM. I had no idea you all love me like this. Thank you for all the phone calls and text messages, we had a small misunderstanding, which has been sorted. So we are now good to go! Itambe Milele!" he wrote.

At Milele FM, the radio journalist was hosting the morning show alongside Jacquey Nyaminde alias Wilbroda. He boasts of over 23 years in the media industry, having bagged his first job as a news presenter for Mombasa-based radio station Baraka FM in 2000, where he worked for 10 years.

He then moved to Germany and worked for Deutsche Welle (DW) for a period of six months. His contract was to be extended but Mwakideu declined and returned to Kenya.

In 2010, he moved to Radio Maisha for a period of 8 years and it was at the Standard Group Limited-owned station that he got his big break, even being appointed Head of Radio.

Mwakideu then joined Milele FM where his star rose further alongside Lang'ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, and continued to steer the fort after Jalang'o left to join Kiss FM.
