Controversial social media influencer and media personality Andrew Kibe on Sunday, September 17 challenged YouTube to furnish him with emails showing the violations he made before his channel was terminated on Monday, September 11.

The video streaming giant had revealed that Kibe was in violation of YouTube's regulations, which led to the channel with over 474,000 subscribers being taken off the platform.

Dorothy Ooko, the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, Africa at Google, had disclosed that after being barred from features such as uploading videos through his channel, the YouTuber used another channel to get past the restrictions, thus forcing YouTube to take action.

"Kibe violated YouTube's Terms of Service. While he was restricted from using YouTube features, including uploading videos on his channel, he used another channel to get around these restrictions aka circumvention, resulting in the termination of all his channels," Ooko stated on X (formerly Twitter).

She however did not reveal the exact violations Kibe committed that led to the termination of the channel, with a section of Kenyans, and Kibe himself, reading malice in her statement.

The former Kiss FM presenter dared YouTube to release evidence showing the emails of the violations that were sent to him before the account, with over 3,000 videos, was terminated.

"Sounds so pedestrian. Can you show me the emails of the violations? That is the procedure, right?

"I mean there is no way YouTube permanently blocks any channel that has over 3,000 videos with no paper trail? Be serious with your job," he responded.

Following the loss of his channel, Kibe declared that his yet-to-be-launched new platform, ‘Yafreeka’, will dethrone YouTube from its stronghold in Africa, amidst the unexpected closure of the channel which he claimed to have anticipated and subsequently used as a catalyst for change.

Rather than succumbing to despair, Kibe stated that he took proactive measures to ensure his content and influence would continue to thrive in the digital realm.

Through his various social media channels, he conveyed an unwavering determination, stating unequivocally that not even death could deter his pursuit of success.

The news of Kibe’s transition from YouTube to Yafreeka sparked significant buzz within the online community, with fans from all corners being vocal in their support, many of whom expressed their anticipation of the new platform’s launch.

“Kibe is the best, the whole story has been trending the whole day. People have been saying I will go and wash old grannies. We have been waiting for this day.

"Kucancelliwa (being cancelled) a YouTube channel is that news? They had not employed me. It doesn’t make sense. I now have my own platform, Yafreeka. By Friday, we will be going live on that platform," he commented on the reactions.

The essence of Kibe’s mission goes beyond personal success. He is a vocal advocate for Kenyan content creators to take charge of their own destinies and build their brands independently.

“Let’s build our own thing so that we can be our own watchmen. How can they dominate us? That I cannot say what I want to because people will get offended," he passionately asserted.
