Media personality Betty Kyallo's Flair By Betty shop has been put up for auction by her landlord due to rent arrears.

According to a public notice in the local dailies on Monday, April 8, Keysian Auctioneers, which was contracted to oversee the process, announced that the exercise is set to commence on Wednesday, April 17 at 11:00 am.

The auctioneers added that the process was necessitated as a call to distress for rent pitting the beauty queen against her landlord.

However, the notice did not immediately reveal the rent arrears prompting the auctioning of the items in the beauty shop.

More than 20 items will be put up for auction and they include 3 dismantled well shelves, a massage bad stand, 2 massage beds, a small serve rack, a glass shelf, 4 big mirrors, towel warmers and dressing tables.

Other items include a binatone microwave, small rolling seats, an office table, 12 barber seats, 3 seats attached with sinks, 9 CCTV cameras, a Huawei router, a small foot massage, a Mac Coffee maker, Hiluck video recorder, one door fridge and others.

Interested individuals will be expected to attend the auction with cash and pay for the goods upon the drop of the hammer.

The auction is set to take place at Leakey's Storage Limited along Lunga-Lunga road in Nairobi. Those interested in viewing the items can do so any day of the week but with prior arrangements.

Kyallo, moments after the notice, lamented the challenges of running a business in Kenya, accusing landlords of turning a blind eye in terms of reducing rental costs.

"Obviously running a business in Kenya has become so difficult. Landlords don't want to reduce rent and it becomes a huge burden on businesses that are struggling because of the economic slowdown. I let it go.

"I am happier. I sleep better. My peace of mind is more important than a name. I'm good. Also After 2 months of expansion, we reopen Aftershave by Flair, Upperhill, La Baita. Gentlemen Come through. I'll be there today!" she shared on her Instagram stories.

Kyalo launched the salon located along Lenana Road in 2020 in a luxurious event attended by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's wife Idah.

At the time of the launch, Kyalo had promised that the salon would offer 'good hair, beautiful nails and fresh barber cuts'.
