CCTV footage on Sunday, March 3 revealed the last moments that preceded the death of a 19-year-old woman who was allegedly thrown off the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi County.

The footage dated Saturday, March 2 and recorded at 3.11 am showed the girl and her partner checking into the apartment after they met at an entertainment joint where they were merry-making before the girl was found dead wearing a t-shirt only.

In the clip, the woman was spotted holding hands with her partner as they disembarked from the lift on the 10th floor.

The man swiftly turned in the other direction upon realising that he was leading the girl the wrong way.

He approached the short-stay apartment and reached out for the house keys before returning to open, all while the girl stood outside the door. The girl then enters the house first, followed by the man.

This would be the last time the girl was seen alive as hours later her lifeless body was found outside the apartment, with just a t-shirt.

Meanwhile, the male companion was found unconscious with 10 stab wounds as the deceased was believed to have been pushed to her death. He was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Detectives had secured the interior of the house which was splattered with blood on the walls and the floor of the living room and bathroom as well as blood-stained bedsheets, an indication of either a struggle between two people or a man fighting for his life.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl could have jumped from the 10th floor in a case of attempted suicide or pushed from the balcony of the house in a case of attempted murder.

Meanwhile, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) probing the death of the young woman are pursuing three people who were in contact with the girl and her partner to assist with ongoing investigations.

Police are also expected to visit one of the entertainment joints along Mirema Drive in Roysambu where the two were believed to have met on Friday night, March 1 before they drove to Thome.

The two had partied for hours before they left the club in the company of another friend whom they had dropped off before they headed to the short-term rental apartment which they had booked for the night.

They are then said to have left again for a different joint where they spent time drinking in the male companion's car before returning to the house. It remains undetermined what transpired in the room after the duo checked in.

Earlier, residents who witnessed the incident reported that they heard a commotion in the early hours of Saturday morning, March 2 before they saw her body fall to the ground floor. This is after noises were heard within the premises.

Police alongside the DCI were alerted to the scene where they transferred the body. They cordoned off the areas as locals flocked to the residence gate to see the body of the deceased.

During the investigations, detectives are also studying CCTV footage at the Mirema club and monitoring their last movements to give more insight into unravelling the mysterious murder.

The male companion who was rushed to Uhai Neema Hospital after being found unconscious inside the house is under police guard at the medical facility as he is, as of now, treated as the main suspect.

The body of the 19-year-old girl is lying at the City Mortuary as police look for family to notify them before a post-mortem date is set this week.
