The identified areas include mental health; rehabilitation, chaplaincy; and welfare for widows and orphans of Officers that have died in the line of duty.

On his part, IG Koome thanked her for her consideration and goodwill towards NPS, terming her intent as a motivation for Police Officers.

"Today, I visited the Inspector General of Police, Japhet N. Koome, at the police headquarters first to commend and appreciate our servicemen and women who tirelessly work and risk their lives to protect and serve us. In this service, there are large numbers of boychildren and men.

"Second, it was to acknowledge that the police force is made up of people who are affected by challenges just like the rest of us, with drug and substance abuse, mental illness, and hopelessness being some of the challenges," Dorcas stated in part.

She noted that her office's chaplaincy and family values pillar wishes to see a dignified future for police officers in areas such as drug and substance abuse rehabilitation, counselling support, mentorship and training, and widow empowerment.

She announced that her clergy will also help conduct mass marriages for those who are unable to meet the huge ceremony cost.

"The IG was very accommodating and welcoming, and he also agreed to partner in the above areas. Our prayers are with our police service.

"We pledge to support the rehabilitation and spiritual nourishment of these men, and the widows of the fallen soldiers," she added.

The meeting comes after President William Ruto appointed former Chief Justice David Maraga to chair a 23-member task force to oversee the improvement of reforms for members of the NPS and Kenya Prisons Service (KPS).

The task force was set up to review the terms and conditions of the police officers in their line of duty. It will also:
