The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has announced up to 220 permanent and pensionable job opportunities across 26 different sections.

KFS stated on Tuesday, June 11 that it is aiming to recruit new staff across different cadres to supplement the government's ambitious wish to plant up to 30 billion trees by 2032.

“In order to strengthen its human resource capacity, the Service wishes to recruit qualified competent staff to fill the following vacant positions listed below on permanent and pensionable terms to enable it fulfil its mandate effectively and drive the country towards the attainment of 30% tree cover by 2032,” read the statement in part.

The advertised roles range from drivers and administrative assistants to office assistants, with applications due by July 1.

The vacant positions include; Pilot, Senior Officer-Business Development and Marketing, Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Engineer, Ecotourism officer, Assistant Wood Technologist, Legal Officer, Geo Data Base Officer, Lecturer, Dispatch Officer, ICT Assistant, and Medical Laboratory Technician.

Others are; Human Resource Management Assistants, Accounts Assistants, Corporate Communication Assistants, Administrative Assistants, Supply Chain Management Assistants, Survey Assistants, Inspector of Roads, Librarian Assistants, Office Administrator Assistants, Customer Care Assistants, Records Management Assistants, Drivers, Plant Operators, and Office Assistants.

Among the diverse roles advertised, KFS is offering 32 vacancies for Office Assistant III/Nursery/Enumerator, 10 positions for Plant Operator III, 20 for Driver III, 30 for Records Management Assistant III, and two for Customer Care Assistant. Additionally, there are 32 openings for Officer Administrator Assistant III, 10 for ICT Assistants, 15 for Accounts Assistant II, and 15 for Human Resource Management Assistant II.

Qualifications and Benefits

Most roles require candidates with diplomas, while others accept applicants with Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade D+. 

Successful applicants will benefit from a range of allowances. House allowances vary from Ksh5,000 to Ksh50,000 per month depending on location, while commuter allowances range between Ksh5,000 and Ksh15,000. Medical allowances cover employees and their dependents, provided through a medical insurance scheme. 

Risk allowances, ranging between Ksh5,000 and Ksh20,000, are available for those working in high-risk regions. Annual leave is equivalent to one month's salary, and hardship allowances of up to Ksh20,000 are offered to those in remote areas.

Salaries range from Ksh30,000 to Ksh300,000 for senior officers.

How To Apply

Interested candidates are required to visit the Kenya Forest Service website http://www.kenyaforestservice.org and select the Jobs tab to proceed with the online registration.

Following successful online registration, the candidates will receive a notification email from KFS.

The applicants are also required to Print and attach the notification email as the first page of the hard copy application.

“The hard copy application should clearly indicate the reference number for the position applied for and attach current curriculum vitae (clearly indicating the mobile number, names, and contact details of three referees), copies of relevant testimonials, academic and professional certificates, and a copy of National identity card,” KFS explained.

The application should clearly be marked with the reference number for the position applied for and either be sent through the post office or hand-delivered.

The deadline for the applications is Monday, July 1, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
