Naneu Muthoni Murder: DCI Stop Main Suspect From Fleeing Kenya

The main suspect behind the brutal murder of Naneu Muthoni, who was found dead on Monday, November 14, at Onyonka estate in Lang'ata sub-county, Nairobi has been arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

According to DCI's statement on Friday, November 18, the suspect Thomas Muthee Ng’ang’a, who was the husband to the deceased was arrested along the Kenya-Uganda border in Malaba, where he has been hiding since the murder was reported. 

Muthee was arrested following a 48-hour operation conducted by sleuths from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) based at Nairobi Area and their DCI Langata counterparts.

"The suspect who had a hunch that detectives were on his trail was drunk to the bone hoping from one drinking den to another in exasperation. 

"The suspect is believed to have masterminded the gruesome murder of his lover whose lifeless body was found sprawled on a sofa, with a deep cut on the forehead and blood oozing from her nose," stated the DCI.

Patterns of blood splatter were also visible on the walls and floor of the one-bedroomed house, which was conclusively documented by detectives drawn from the forensic crime scene investigations unit, based at the DCI National Forensic laboratory.

At the time of the suspect’s arrest, some personal effects belonging to the deceased were recovered from him.

The suspect is currently being processed at Malaba Police station before being transferred to Lang'ata police station.

He will be charged with murder contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code and produced before court to answer to his crimes. 

An autopsy conducted on Naneu's body revealed on Wednesday, November 16 that she died due to traumatic brain injury.

The post-mortem exercise conducted by Chief Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor further noted that the 31-year-old was beaten severally with a blunt object and a sharp object penetrated her head.

Dr Oduor added that multiple injuries on the body of Muthoni were consistent with an assault. 

Police reports indicated that her body had deep cuts on the forehead with blood oozing from the nose. The scene had blood splattered on the wall and on the floor with clear signs of a struggle.

The two were in a relationship for one year, despite numerous calls by her mother to terminate it on the basis of red flags in the union majoring on being physically assaulted on several occasions.

"It has not been a very steady relationship, and I have tried severally to discourage her but I don't know how she keeps going back. One time she had a red eye when I asked her what was wrong with the eye, she said some shampoo entered her eye," the mother unfortunately recalled.

Muthoni had always downplayed the situation and despite calls to end the union, she still continued with the rocky relationship. This saw her walk away several times but went back to her boyfriend, breaking her pledge to never return.

The mother added that during Muthoni's final trip to Onyonka estate, the two had not seen each other for three weeks following differences in their relationship.
