Media personality and comedian Oga Obinna on Monday, May 22 took the news of being replaced by Chito Ndhlovu at Kiss 100 FM bitterly.

To prove this, he took to his Instagram account to share a video of him seemingly weeping in sorrow, distraught at the sudden turn of events, while driving along a country road at high speed.

The clip captured Obinna crying uncontrollably, struggling to voice his thoughts on being replaced by Ndhlovu, almost a month after leaving the popular urban radio station under Radio Africa Group (RAG).

He appeared to have lost control of his emotions despite his co-passenger urging him to slow down, lest his emotions got the better of his concentration along the road, leading to a serious road accident.

Watch the video:

"Reduce your speed. Do you want to kill us because of Kiss? Stop the car..." the co-passenger pleaded Obinna, who however ignored him as he drove on.

Obinna's outpouring of emotions was evidence of his love for Kiss FM, a station he had joined in March 2022, replacing Lang'ata member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o who resigned to campaign for the seat under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and clinched it during the August 9, 2022, general elections.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) 2023 accident reports, a total of 4,432 road accidents have occurred since January resulting in 4,690 deaths and 9,933 injuries. That was an increase of 1,135 accidents, 1,111 deaths, and 2,896 injuries compared to 2022.

The report also showed that the most common causes of road accidents in Kenya were speeding, reckless driving, and drunk driving. Other contributing factors include poor road infrastructure, lack of driver education, and non-compliance with traffic laws.

Obinna was hosting the station's Morning Show alongside Sheila Kwamboka (Kwambox) every weekday from 6.00 am to 10.00 am before his departure on Tuesday, April 25, citing the decision by both himself and Radio Africa to end his contract amicably.

“I’m no longer at Kiss FM. I have finished my contract. The experience has been beautiful and I have achieved my dream and did everything I wanted to do. And everything I do from now henceforth will be extra.

"If it’s a job or a car, I will be extra. I have driven that car I wanted to drive (apart from Range Rover Sport), lived in the houses I wanted, and worked in an organization I always wanted. I have achieved what I wanted to do and now we move,” Obinna said.

Kiss FM replaced Obinna with Ndhlovu on Sunday, May 21 after the management had reached out to the latter regarding details of his new role at the station and set expectations for the morning show.
