Ruto Makes More Appointments to Executive Offices

President William Ruto has made five new appointments in Executive positions, four of them which will be posted at the Office of his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

According to a dispatch from State House dated Monday, October 17, Emmanuel Talam has been appointed the Press Secretary, Presidential Communication Service (PCS).

Reuben Maiyo will serve as the Private Secretary to the President, and George Ng'ong'a Macgoye as Chief of Staff to the Deputy President.

Paul Muraya Mwangi will be DP Gachagua's Private Secretary while Njeri Rugene will serve as the Head of Communication Services in the DP's office.

"As set out in Executive Order No. 1 of 2022, on the Organization of Government of Kenya, the executive office of the President comprises the Office of the President, the Office of the Deputy President, and the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary

"In that regard, it is hereby noted that President William Ruto has today caused additional appointments within the ranks of the Executive Office of the President as follows,"  read the statement in part.

Talam had served as the communications director in the Office of the Deputy President when Ruto was deputising former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Maiyo, who was the Head of State's private secretary when he was the DP was retained in the same post.

Gachagua's new Chief of Staff was previously a Senior Deputy Secretary at the National Youth Service (NYS) after she was appointed in May 2015.

He is a a fomer deputy commandant of the Administration Police (AP) as well as a deputy commissioner of the Kenya Prisons Service.

Rugene is a trained journalist who worked with the Nation. She is a media trainer as well as as the founder of the Woman's Newsroom Foundation.

Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei noted that the team will support the President in the implementation of his vision for Kenya as espoused in the Kenya Kwanza Plan.

The appointments come after President Ruto appointed former Citizen TV anchor, Hussein Mohamed as State House Spokesperson, and will now lead in making statements on Ruto's behalf and issuing any updates on various government projects as tasked by the Head of State.

He will also be in charge of coordinating digital messaging, research, branding and press at the State House.

Hussein joined Citizen TV in 2008 as a news anchor and show host and spent more than a decade crafting himself into one of the best journalists in the country.

In the appointments, David Mugonyi, who previously served as Ruto's communications director at the Office of the Deputy President, was promoted to Head of the PCS.
