Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ezekiel Mutua, revealed on Wednesday, July 5 that musician Stephen Otieno Adera alias Stevo Simple Boy was awarded a lucrative job.

Mutua revealed in a statement that he had met the Freshi Barida hitmaker who made headlines over reports of being in financial difficulties.

After Stevo opened up on his struggles, the MCSK CEO immediately linked him up with John Muteti, the current acting CEO of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) who awarded him an ambassadorial role at the semi-autonomous state corporation.

Mutua further noted that Muteti was happy about the request as one of Stevo's songs had created awareness towards the youth on the dangers of drug and substance abuse.

"When I met Stevo Simple Boy earlier today he was very clear on what he wants - to become an Ambassador for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse. I picked up my phone and called the CEO of NACADA Prof. John Muteti who graciously granted me an appointment to discuss the matter.

"He was very impressed by the request given the commitment by the "Vijana Tuache Mihadarati" singer to using his talent to sensitise the youth against drug and substance abuse. Prof. Muteti immediately granted the appointment," he stated.

On his part, Mutua expressed his desire to empower the youth and link them to opportunities to grow their craft.

"Our desire is to give hope to young people and connect them to opportunities. So fulfilling to have had the chance to put a smile on Stevo's face today," he added.

Mutua also revealed that he registered him as a member of MCSK after learning of his financial woes.

"He is a great guy, so when I learned that he was going through ups and downs, which is normal, you know since COVID a lot of musicians have not found their bearing, so we have met and I have even registered him as a member of MCSK," he remarked.

This comes after Mumias East Member of Parliament, Peter Salasya met the artist on Monday, July 3 and fulfilled his promise to provide him with a house.

"On Monday, you will have a new home. I will find a house for you in Nairobi and cover the rent for at least three months.

"I want you to be independent, manage your own finances, and organize your own shows," Salasya stated during their encounter at Serena Hotel.

The following day, the lawmaker acquired a house for him and covered the associated costs. He further pledged to build a house for Simple Boy in his village.

In order to support Simple Boy and his wife, Salasya offered to sponsor her on a three-month hairdressing and beauty course. He also committed to assisting her in establishing a business.

"I have advised Simple Boy to pursue any refresher course that I will also undertake so that music can become a side hustle for him in the future," Salasya explained.

Simple Boy on Monday, June 26 lost a deal he had with Men in Business (MIB) Management after it terminated his contract, which came amidst allegations of mismanagement by the managers.

Stevo's wife, Grace Atieno, had pleaded for financial help alleging that the much-loved artist was struggling to make ends meet.
