We Were To Get Married In April 2024- Kelvin Kiptum's Wife [VIDEO]

Asenath Jeruto, the wife of World Record marathon holder Kelvin Kiptum, revealed on Friday, February 23 that they were set to tie the knot in a wedding ceremony in April 2024 before death robbed her of her loved one.
Jeruto was giving her eulogy of the late athlete at his funeral service in Elgeyo Marakwet on Friday.
The duo got married in 2017 during a traditional wedding but were yet to officiate their solemn vows in church.
Asenath's words resonated with the pain and shock of losing a partner too soon, expressing the difficulty of saying goodbye, even though she promised to move ahead with the wedding and make her vows on the scheduled day in honour of the athlete.
"We were planning for a big day to tie our knots in a colourful wedding ceremony in April 2024 but God's plans are greater.
"I will still make my vows even in your rest. You will be the best husband and father of my children. Dance with angels, bye," she stated.
She further described the loss of Kiptum as a big blow for her and her children, adding that the very thought of her living without him broke her heart.
Jeruto nonetheless promised to soldier on and take care of their two children in his honour.
"My dear love, I cannot learn how to say goodbye to you. With weak fingers and pain in my heart. It is unbelievable that today I have learnt to stay with our beloved kids without you coming home again. I mourn my love. I have cried until no more. I miss you and you are the love of my life until we meet again.
"I promise to gather my strength for the sake of our children Your help in the spirit world will inspire me to stand as a pillar for our children I promise to make them smile in your honour. I will make you happy all the time," she added.
The loss of Kiptum not only marks the end of his physical presence but leaves a void in the lives of Jeruto and their children.
This unfulfilled dream adds a layer of sadness to her tribute, as it speaks to the abrupt and unforeseen nature of life's twists and turns.
On their part, Kiptum's children, in a written tribute, hailed their father as a hero.
"We still cannot believe that you have left us. We will always remember you and love you. Life will never be the same without you," Kiptum's children expressed.
Kiptum died in a road accident alongside his Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizimana on February 11 along the Eldoret-Kaptagat Road.
He will be laid to rest later today in Naiberi in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where the government has built a new home for his family.
