Dennis Schweizer: Questions Emerge Over Identity Of Akothee's Husband

Just a day after the country's attention was turned towards the wedding between Kenyan singer and entrepreneur Esther Akoth, alias Akothee and her husband, Dennis Schweizer, Kenyans On Twitter (KOT) have raised a number of red flags regarding his real identity.

A KOT who goes by the username @mwabilimwagodi on Monday, April 10 fiercely questioned the true identity of Schweizer, with a mere Google search on his name revealing to be a different person working as a Finance Professor at the University of Concordia in Canada, other than reports about him in the invite-only wedding event.

Compared to her previous lover, Nelly Oaks, who was known for having a robust social media presence to the point of having several photos of him and Akothee all over the internet, little is known about Schweizer, a Swiss national whose only active social media presence is an Instagram account with the username @misteromosh.

"Something is terribly wrong with our Kenyan media. There is no single media house that has questioned the origins of any of Akothee's husbands. All of them are literally publishing PR puff pieces lifted straight from her Instagram page," he wrote.

In response, one of the users alleged that European countries bear strict privacy laws which discourage spreading gossip about people, especially on the internet.

"As well, I doubt that Akothee is running for any political position that would make it obligatory to volunteer such information. She is just living her life as any citizen would," she wrote in part.

Another user shared Viral Tea's report explaining why Akothee kept extensive details of her new man a secret, which prompted KOT to conduct independent background checks on the Swiss national.

Some believed that Schweizer may have erased his records from the internet before being photographed in public in the highly-anticipated event attended by politicians and Public Service CS Aisha Jumwa, among other prominent personalities in media, content creation and showbiz.

Others suspected that he may have been involved in money laundering activities, probably in reference to Belgian tycoon, Marc De Mesel who was on the spot in 2022 over hundreds of millions of shillings he gifted to four Kenyan women.

On Tuesday, April 11, Mwabili alleged that a tech individual had reached out to him claiming that Schweizer was an alias, with another user disclosing that he only changed his Instagram username once, raising further questions on his actual identity.

"Thanks to one of my sleuths in the DM I got the names of the two white men I was asking about last night. The French diplomat (retired by now) is Dominique Decherf and the Swiss national is Markus Meyer," he wrote.

Later on, a screenshot from a dating site surfaced showing a man named Ed, but with a profile picture that almost matched those of Schweizer photographed at a wedding as well as a photo of a man who resembled him, during a past wedding.

However, Viral Tea found both images inconclusive as Schweizer is yet to issue a statement on the rumours surrounding his identity.
