Popular Tiktoker Kevin Oselu (popularly known as Baba Mona) warmed the hearts of many of his fans with content coupled with humour prior to his death in a tragic accident on Friday, February 24, near Fort Ternan on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.

One of his videos which has since gone viral showed Baba Mona in a video shoot with his daughter, Mona, as they danced to an ohangla tune, with Mona captivating many with her dancing skills.

Netizens were moved by the video which was shared just four days before their demise. By the time of publishing this story, it was viewed more than 913,500 times with their fans mostly typing 'RIP' in the comments as a way of offering their deepest condolences.

Baba Mona left Nairobi for Kisumu on Friday, February 24 for what would be his last journey in the company of his bubbly daughter and two sisters. Reports indicate that the plan was for the content creator to drop off his two sisters at Awasi and afterwards proceed with the journey.

However, their journey was cut short in Londiani when the saloon car Baba Mona was driving lost control, causing it to roll several times.

"Their vehicle got involved in a crash when they were near Londiani. He was headed to Awasi to drop off his two sisters before coming to returning Kisumu.

"He had charged me with booking for him an Airbnb which he was to stay in while in Kisumu. I know only one of his sisters named Connie," one of Baba Mona's closest friends named Leonard Ochieng' stated on the tragedy.

"Extremely sad indeed. May they rest in peace and may God give the family peaceful hope beyond human understanding. Such a tragedy. It is well," former Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri wrote on Saturday, February 25.

According to the fans, Baba Mona was famous for his candid advice to all those that sought his help on different matters. He was described as a straightforward guy who always spoke his mind when called upon.

Additionally, he was referred to as a go-getter who followed his passion, further writing "Do not die with depression," on his TikTok bio as a unique message to his fans.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen revealed on December 20, 2022, that the number of Kenyans who died in road accidents in 2022, which he said was more than those who died of COVID-19.

According to him, 4,449 people lost their lives in the last year, a three per cent increase from 2021 when there were 4,271 cases.

CS Murkomen continued by breaking down the cases, noting that there were 403 driver fatalities overall, 1,190 motorcycle riders, and 1,595 pedestrians. In the same 2022 time frame, 1,204 passengers died.
