On Wednesday, January 3, YouTube couple Mungai Eve and Director Trevor triggered breakup speculations after they surprisingly deleted photos of each other from their respective Instagram accounts.

Spot checks by Viral Tea on both their accounts revealed that Trevor deleted all photos of them from his account, leaving just one of himself posing next to a Mercedes-Benz SUV.

This was the same on Mungai's account as the action sent netizens reeling in curiosity and fanned by reports that Trevor attended a New Year's event without the company of Mungai.

However, profiles of the couple read that they co-founded an online media house, Mungai Eve Media, which features interviews with various Kenyan celebrities. Furthermore, they are still following each other on the platform.

With neither Mungai nor Trevor yet to confirm nor deny the rumours by the time of publishing this story, it is not the first time they have been faced with such rumours which they had consistently refuted.

An older video resurfaced showing Mungai addressing their relationship dynamics and explaining why they would never publicly announce a breakup.

In the video in which she had an interview with local YouTubers, she expressed her confusion about persistent breakup rumours, emphasizing that their relationship had challenges like any other.

However, she staunchly defended their decision to keep their matters private and away from the online spotlight.

The rumours came after Trevor recently revealed his desire to adopt a child in 2024. During a Q&A session on Instagram, a curious fan asked if Trevor had a child, to which he responded, "I want to adopt one, a baby boy."

Why Do Celebrity Couples Delete Photos Of Each Other?

Celebrity couples deleting Instagram photos of each other is no new tactic, and while most of them have taken advantage of this for clout-chasing, this is a popular move most couples are turning to to keep details of their relationship away from the spotlight.

Moreover, some do it out of fear of intense criticism that comes anytime they announce that they are breaking up with each other.

On December 4, 2023, 30-year-old Kenyan influencer and content creator, Natalie Tewa Wanjiru raised eyebrows after she mysteriously deleted all photos featuring her and her fiance, Francis Mbugua Mugane as well as unfollowed him on Instagram, with Mugane doing the same.

It is yet to be established if the move by the couple to delete photos of and unfollow each other is a tactic to keep their relationship away from the public eye, as many would see a wise decision.

It was also yet to be determined if there was rumoured turbulence between them, who are yet to disclose when they would wed after close to 10 months of being engaged.

On Sunday, February 12, she announced through her Instagram stories that she was engaged to Mugane, her longtime boyfriend, a travel, fashion and food content creator based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
