Rapper Mario TJ Kasela, better known as Trio Mio, narrated on Thursday, April 27 how he was robbed by three armed individuals while leaving a studio.

During an interview, the Cheza Kama Wewe hitmaker revisited the terrifying encounter whereby he was on his way home from the studio past midnight when he encountered three people hanging around, whom he initially ignored.

He proceeded to walk to his car, which was parked a few feet away, but one of the robbers recognised him and called him out while approaching him to exchange greetings before proceeding to his vehicle.

As he was trying to lock his car, two out of the three guys drew closer to him and one of them pulled out a gun as the other brandished a panga, leaving the rapper wondering if he had done anything to the criminals or if he knew them.

Trio Mio froze as one of the goons placed the gun at his stomach, forcing him into his pocket and handing over his mobile phones, clothes, and car keys.

"First, they got off their bike while I was locking the car. By the time I was done, they took out a gun, and the other one had a machete.

"I was ready to give them everything, my shoes and clothes as long as they spared my life. They had cocked the gun and placed it on my stomach. They took my two phones and I gave them the car keys," he narrated.

Other than threatening to take away his life, the robbers also threatened to shoot a security officer who could have rescued the rapper.

The gunmen quickly disappeared into the night, leaving Trio Mio shaken and traumatized. In addition to losing his phone and car keys, the rapper had lost a piece of himself as he felt violated and exposed owing to the unforgettable traumatic experience which took away his sense of safety.

Trio Mio's case is one among celebrities who have found themselves in unexpected scenarios where a slight slip in their safety leaves them vulnerable at the hands of robbers.

Kenyan comedian Timothy Kimani, popularly known as Njugush on October 6, 2022, recalled how a middle-aged woman limping along the streets of Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) lured him to a dragnet of armed robbers lying in wait as he drove around the city.

At the time, he was under the belief that she was seeking immediate assistance after she claimed that she had children who had not eaten for several days and had asked him for food, instead of money, to take to them.

“She smelled like alcohol but I guess no stress. I lowered my window a little bit and she said she has kids who’ve not eaten for days…she doesn’t beg but it has bitten each other so she had no choice.

"She looks beat, she told me she wants to fend for herself but because of an accident she had, she is forced to beg. She tells me she does not want money but if I have food in the car, I could give it to her,” Njugush began.

Her story moved Njugush to the point he was convinced to open the car door to inspect her injury. However, two thugs had gained access to the car in a split-second move and held him at knifepoint.

One of them seated at the co-driver seat had pressed the knife on Njugush's ribs, threatening to stab him. Meanwhile, the woman who faked her injuries demanded the comedian not to raise an alarm or else she would accuse him of trying to rape her.

He handed over his phone to the criminals while one of them moved to slap him while he was trying to distract them with a joke. Meanwhile, they demanded him the PIN number to his mobile money account so that the lady could draw out all his money.
