The contest was organised by The Young People's Network International (TYPNI) and patronaged by Charlene.

President William Ruto's daughter, Charlene Ruto, on Saturday, January 11 announced an opportunity for Kenyans gifted in website design skills to win up to Ksh200,000 through a competition.
Taking to her X account, Charlene revealed that the Website Design Competition will allow youths aged between 18 and 35 to demonstrate their skills in website design and stand a chance to win 1,500 USD, which is Ksh194,997 at current exchange rates.
The contest was organised by The Young People's Network International (TYPNI) and patronaged by Charlene.
"It’s time for our next big thing... the website competition! Are you between 18 and 35 years old? Team up in groups of 3 and show us what you’ve got," Charlene wrote.

How To Enter
The competition will run for exactly a month. To enter, participants must team up as a group of three and share links to three websites the team or members have created. Once done, they should send a short technical proposal for the website they would create for The Young People's Network International platform.
Participants must also attach IDs and profiles of all three team members. The challenge is open from today, Saturday, January 11, and application submissions will end on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Afterwards, public voting on the designs will take place between February 25, 2025, and March 4, 2025, with the winning design set to be announced on March 7, 2025.
Requirements
Charlene revealed that some of the requirements that participants should take note of are that the website must have a youthful appeal, give vibrant, modern visuals, and use The Young People's Network International (TYPNI) colours.
The website should also prioritise a layout optimised for mobile viewing, simple to navigate with clear intuitive navigation, and suggest features that encourage user interaction and community building.
Participants have been informed that the website should have readable fonts and high-contrast colours for inclusive designs.
It should also have unique features that propose creative elements that would make the design memorable and stand out.
This is not the first time Charlene has involved the youth in designing elements of the TYPNI. In March 2024, the first daughter announced a similar competition in which youths were invited to design the company's logo. The winning designer took home a cash prize of Ksh100,000.
Additionally, they had the unique opportunity to meet and dine with Ms. Ruto, which added a personal touch to the accolade.
The president's daughter has been actively engaging the youth in various outreach forums and initiatives. She has also used various situations to increase her presence online and her profile as the First Daughter.
She has also been engaged in high-profile public events despite her father not appointing her to a government role.
