Child With Fork Jembe Lodged In Head Dies at KNH
The hospital had earlier released a statement after the boy's condition drew sharp criticism after the mother faulted the hospital for delays by its staff.

A two-year-old boy who had a fork jembe lodged in his skull died at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi on Tuesday, October 11 while undergoing treatment.
Initial reports had revealed that the boy was out playing with his friends and siblings when one of them allegedly hit the boy with the jembe.
The boy was earlier taken to the Thika Level V Hospital for first aid administered by medical personnel before being referred to KNH.

The mother of the child confirmed the sad news, according to Citizen Digital, stating that her son had succumbed to the injuries while being operated on.
The hospital had earlier released a statement after the boy's condition drew sharp criticism after the mother faulted the hospital for delays by its staff.
KNH revealed that the presumed delays were to allow room for clotting owing to the boy's critical state.
At the time, he had lost a lot of blood which prompted doctors and medical staff to stabilise him before booking him in.
"Our attention has been drawn to the story circulating online regarding a child admitted at KNH with a fork lodged in his skull,” read a statement by KNH Communication Department.
“The patient had lost a lot of blood and as a result, the clotting process was not occurring as expected, thereby, delaying the surgical procedure as this would have been dangerous to the patient. The patient has since been stabilized and is currently undergoing a delicate operation in KNH theatres."
The statement however intensified the uproar, especially after the unfortunate death of the boy. Kenyans on social media condemned the hospital for its failure to act swiftly in saving him.
Others however argued that the hospital took time to respond to the situation, adding that it had done its best to help him.
