Raila's Popularity In Nairobi Compared To Ruto- New Poll

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga is the most preferred presidential candidate in Nairobi county, a new poll by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) has shown.

However, his fierce rival, Deputy President William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), is closing in on him in the race for votes in the capital city during the August 9 general elections.

Raila leads with 52 per cent followed by Ruto at 34 per cent, but the second-in-command has been closing the gap on his competitor by 18 per cent compared to July when the gap was at 25 per cent in Nairobi County.

The former Prime Minister is also the most preferred presidential candidate in Kajiado County with a 47 per cent approval rating compared to Ruto's 39 per cent.

In terms of the Nairobi gubernatorial race, Senator Johnson Sakaja had his popularity go up from 23 per cent to 53 per cent against Polycarp Igathe's popularity at 36 per cent, which makes him the most popular contender to be the next Nairobi governor.

In the Kajiado Gubernatorial race, Joseph Ole Lenku is the most preferred pick in the county at 36 per cent with Katoo Metito and David Nkedianye tied at 25 per cent popularity.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party is the most popular in Nairobi County, with the proportion of those undecided on the party they support dropping from 44 per cent to 20 per cent in the span of four months.

ODM's Esther Passaris is the most preferred Woman Rep candidate in Nairobi with 44 per cent with UDA's Millicent Omanga following in second at 28 per cent. The number of undecided voters dropped by a huge margin from 53 per cent to 10 per cent.

Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya is the most popular coalition in Nairobi County at 50 per cent while Kenya Kwanza has a popularity of 28 per cent. 

TIFA also revealed that Judith Pareno Nayiai Ramaita is the most preferred senatorial candidate in Kajiado County with 20 per cent while Moses Ole Sakuda and Seki Lenku Ole Kanar tied at 19 per cent.

UDA's Leah Sankaire Sopiato emerged as the most preferred candidate in the women's representative category in the county with 25 per cent and ODM's Jenipher Moinkett Sayianka followed at 13 per cent.

Kajiado County residents prefer the Azimio La Umoja coalition more than the Kenya Kwanza coalition. While Azimio was ranked at 47 per cent in popularity, Kenya Kwanza came at 33 per cent in popularity.
