Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has assured Kenyans that he is not the same person he was during the 2022 election year when he threw his weight behind Azimio la Umoja coalition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking during an NTV interview on Wednesday, January 4, Kalonzo admitted to being foolish for following Raila for the third time, his own version of living in a fantasy world.

He added that he had taken serious lessons to heart to avoid having to witness a similar scenario happening again.

"The fool in me ended up supporting Raila Odinga for the third time but that fool is wiser now than he was then. I am no fool, it took some painful introspection and I brought it out," he said.

He added that he had to sacrifice his time to get Raila to agree to his previous terms in pen and paper before he could support him.

"I had to sit down with Raila and showed him what we had agreed in writing, and from that time I supported him. It was the right thing to do," Kalonzo stated.

He noted that he was way past the fool that he was before, and reiterated his love for Kenya despite being labelled several names.

"I am no fool, I've been dragged through the mud so many times and given some bad names but I'm still there and I love this country. I only wish Kenyans peace but also justice," he added.

He also asked Kenyans to pray for him so that he will not find himself on similar grounds of being slammed for things he never did.

"Please Kenyans pray for me so that I'll not be accused forever of things that I've never done and now the chickens have come home to roost. All those naysayers, indecisive, watermelon, those are behind us, they're gone in 2022, and you're looking at a different Kalonzo," he assured.

Kalonzo had supported the presidential bid of Raila and Martha Karua in the August 9 general elections before both of them lost to President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, at the expense of his own failed bid.

On his 2027 ambitions for the presidential seat, Kalonzo noted that he will not let a chance like that pass if presented to him.

“We have not sat down as a party. We will call an executive meeting and look at all those issues and develop a consensus.

"In the event, we are still around and if my party nominates me to run, I will run as I have never run before," he vowed.
